Are you Scooterist?
Are you Vespa Lover?

If the answer is yes, I am sure you already know that Piaggio has launched their first Scooter Matic variant in the 1980's with the name Vespa PK 80s Automatic & Vespa PK 125 (in my country this variant called Vespa Corsa).

Vespa PK 80 and Vespa PK 125 launched by Piaggio to replace the Vespa Primavera, the shape was completely new and different from previous Scooters because the weld of the body no longer overlaped but were integral.

Here in my country (Indonesia) this Vespa Variant have a little fans because of its treatment is quite complicated and least of Vespa workshop who can caring and servicing this kind of Scooter.

Luckily, there's still Scooterists who want to own, care, and servicing this Vespa, one of them is Scooteris Club named PICOLO (Piaggio Corsa Lovers) in Semarang-Central Java. And they don't hesitate to share tips and trick for those of you who has this kind of Vespa Variant. One of their tips are about how to make by your self your own tire cover (if your tire cover have lost or damage).

I'm sure many of Vespa Corsa (Vespa Small Frame) rider know this trick. If you already know you can ignore this article or maybe you can also add some comment about another tips and tricks about this Vespa Variant so that we can share our experience as a scooterist.

FIRST STEP: the equipment you'll need is a spare tire cover from Vespa PS (size: 8") and the old tire, bolt 12/13" (size: 10-12 cm long), nut 12/13" (size: 2 cm) usually used to lock piston head cylinders/Vespa wheel fastener, and the last is O-ring 12/13".

SECOND STEP: remove the accumulator and the spare tire holder off the body and reduce the width of the accumulator container for about 1.5 cm or nearly parallel to the width of the accumulator.

patch it by welding the nut on the spare tire holder (the position is right above the bottom spare tire fastener bolts).

trim up the welds mark by painting it so it look neat and clean.

THIRD STEP: put it all back to normal and try to plug the Vespa PS spare tire cover, then tie/fasten with long bolts that had been prepared (see image below).

LAST STEP: reattach the left engine cover to the Vespa body (see image below).

VOILA..!!! you've done it.

although this is made from and old tires an spare tire cover but if you look it from a distance the spare tire cover is a bit like the original part.
